Whitfield Earns Second Straight AMC Player of the Week Award

Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the AMC announced the men's basketball Player of the Week award for the week ending on Sunday, November 12th. For the second straight week, Columbia College junior Preston Whitfield was recognized with the award.

Whitfield, a 6-1 guard out of St. Louis, Missouri, averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in two games for the Cougars last week. He scored 18 points and added five rebounds against Westminster (Mo.) College and then followed that up with a 17 point and six rebounds outing against Central Christian College of the Bible (Mo.). He shot 56 percent from the field on the week and 40 percent from behind the arc while going a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line. This is his second career AMC Player of the Week Award.

The seventh ranked men's basketball team will be back in action on Thursday, November 16th when they play host to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) Eutectics in their first AMC matchup of the season. The game is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in the Southwell Athletic Complex.
