Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Columbia Defeats Eutectics 95-56

Columbia, Mo. – The 16th ranked Columbia College women's basketball team was back in action tonight when they hosted St. Louis College of Pharmacy in their first AMC matchup of the season. The Cougars defeated the Eutectics by a final score of 95-56 to improve to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

The Cougars used back to back threes from Walters and Feeney to get their offense rolling in the first quarter as they jumped to a 12-3 lead. Columbia extended their lead 25-8 after one quarter of play. The Cougars looked to pressure the Eutectics right away to start the second quarter. Columbia remained in control of the game as they headed in halftime leading 54-29. The Cougars shot 46 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three, and 73 percent from the line in the first half.

Columbia had a bit of a slow start coming out of the halftime break. The Eutectics were able to get their offense going, but it was a little too late as Columbia was able to maintain their lead throughout the quarter. The Cougars led 68-47 heading into the final quarter. Columbia outscored the Eutectics 27 to 9 in the fourth quarter to roll to a 95-56 victory.

Mai Nienhueser had a career high of 17 points along with eight rebounds. In addition to Nienhueser, Sarah Walters (13), Grey Hayes (12), Jordan Alford (11), and Ashlee Marlatt (10) all recorded double-digit points in the contest. Morgan Brandt pulled down a team high 11 rebounds as well, while Marlatt dished out five assists on the night.

The Cougars are back in action Saturday, November 18th, when they travel across town to face Stephens (Mo.) College in an AMC matchup. The game is set to tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
