Box Score 2 Conway, Ark. – This afternoon the Columbia College baseball team was back in action when they took on Central Baptist (Ark.) College in the final two games of a three game series. The Cougars swept the double-header against the Mustangs taking the first game by a final score of 11-3 and the second game by a final score of 8-5. With the wins, Columbia College improves to 8-6 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
In their first game of the day, the Cougars offense was rolling from the opening pitch of the contest. They were able to score four runs in the first three innings of the game and held the Mustangs scoreless as they took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third. Central Baptist answered back in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own but seven runs over the last four innings of the game propelled the Cougars to their second win in conference play.
Jeremy Rettig was the starting pitcher for Columbia allowing just five hits and three earned runs in six innings of work. Offensively, the Cougars were led by
Andrew Warner who went 2-4 with three RBI's and
Kenny Piper who went 1-3 with three RBI's.
Columbia College got off to a slow start in the second game as the Mustangs scored one run in each of the first three innings to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Despite being down, the Cougars bounced back quickly in the game and scored four runs over the third and fourth innings to take a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. However, Central Baptist did not let the Cougars lead last very long as they had two runners come around and score over the fifth and sixth innings to regain the lead in the contest. With the Cougars trailing late in the game, their bats came to live in the seventh inning and they were able to tie the game at five before going off for three runs in the top of the ninth to stay unbeaten in conference play.

Blade McKee went 3-4 with two RBI's and
Andrew Warner went 4-5 with two runs scored to round out the top performers for Columbia College.
The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, February 28
th when they travel to Point Lookout, Missouri, to take on College of the Ozark (Mo.) in a non-conference matchup. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
