Box Score Batesville, Ark. – This afternoon the Columbia College baseball team was back in action when they took on Lyon (Ark.) College in the final game a three game series. The Cougars, who swept the Scots in their doubleheader yesterday, were able to complete the three game series sweep with a 7-4 victory. With the win, Columbia improves to 31-15 on the season and 21-6 in conference play.

The Cougars got off to a slow start in the game as the Scots were able to retire six of the first seven batters that they faced. Lyon took advantage of Columbia's miscues and were able to score an early run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead into the third. The Cougars bats finally came to life in the third inning and they were able to rally behind a three hit inning to score four runs in the frame and take a 4-1 lead over the Scots. Lyon College responded quickly to Columbia's rally and scored once in each of the next few innings to cut the Cougars lead to 4-3. Columbia College was able to add three more runs in the top of the sixth inning and closed out the Scots down the final stretch of the game to solidify their third straight win.

Cody Ebert (9-0) was able to stay undefeated on the season as the starting pitcher struck out six batters while allowing just eight hits and three earned runs in 5.0 innings of work. Alex Anderson (0-0) came in to relieve Ebert in the sixth inning and struck out five batters while allowing just three hits in 2.2 scoreless innings. Following Anderson, Craig Smith (3-3) came into the game to pitch the final 1.1 innings and picked up his fifth save of the season after striking out one batter and allowing one hit. Offensively, Columbia College was led by Blade McKee who went 2-5 with two runs scored and Justin Randle who went 2-3 with an RBI.
