Cougars Remain Unbeaten in Conference Play

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men's soccer team was back on the field tonight when they played host to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) Eutectics in an AMC matchup. The Cougars, who came into this game with a five game winning streak, were able to extend their streak to six straight games after defeating the Eutectics by a final score of 8-1. With the win, Columbia College improves to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.

The Cougars came out in the first half of the match and were able to get on the board just two minutes into the game when Casey Barlett-Scott knocked in his first tally of the season to give Columbia a 1-0 lead. They continued to apply the pressure as the half progressed and were able to add a second goal just 13 minutes later when Matheus Lima finished off his second goal of the season. The Eutectics battled back and were able to cut the Cougars lead to 2-1 midway through the half but Columbia was able to add two more goals in the half including tallies from Adam Du Toit and Michael Mayberry to take a 4-1 lead into the halftime break.

Columbia College came out in the second half and were able to add a fifth goal to their game total just a minute and a half into the period as Aaron Noel finished off his second goal of the season to give the Cougars a 5-1 lead. Nick Horne knocked in his second goal of the season midway through the half and then back-to-back goals from Brett Bales gave the Cougars an 8-1 lead with 17 minutes remaining in the game. The Eutectics did their best to get back into the game but were unable to find the back of the net as the Cougars cruised to their fourth conference win in as many games.

Collin Baker was in goal for Columbia tonight as the freshman made his second consecutive start picking up his second win of the season.

The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, September 26th when they travel to Hannibal, Missouri, to take on Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
