Columbia, Mo. – The fifth ranked Columbia College women's soccer team was back in action this afternoon when they hosted the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics in an AMC matchup. The Cougars continued their winning streak as they defeated the Eutectics by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 9-0 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.
The Cougars came out in the first half and controlled the tempo from the start. Lucy Kingsley opened the gates for Columbia when she poked it just passed the Eutectics keeper to get the Cougars on the board. Kelsey Mirts and Sarah Taylor quickly followed to give Columbia a 3-0 lead midway through the first half. Tiffany Weaver chipped one in to grab her first goal of the season to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead going into halftime.
Tiffany Weaver started the second half right where she left off, knocking in another one to give Columbia a 5-0 lead to start the second half. It did not take long before Lucy Kingsley and Laurie Frew found the back of the net giving the Cougars a 7-0 lead. Hannah Crone snatched her first goal of the season putting Columbia up 8-0 midway through the second half. Joanna Taylor wrapped up the game for the Cougars giving them a final score of 9-0 over the Eutectics.
Madison Boyken and Erin Jones split time in goal for the Cougars as the two combined for their sixth shutout of the season.
The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, September 26th when they travel to Hannibal, Missouri to face Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.) in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
