Parkville, Mo. – The Columbia College men's soccer team was back in action when they traveled to Parkville, Missouri, to take on the Park (Mo.) University Pirates in an AMC matchup. The Cougars were able to defeat the Pirates by a final score of 4-1 to improve to 9-4-1 on the season and 8-0 in conference play.
Columbia College came out in the first half and controlled the tempo early as they put two shots on target in the first 15 minutes of the game. Park settled in as the half progressed and were able to score the first goal of the game with just over 14 minutes left in the half to take a 1-0 lead in the contest. However, their lead did not last long as the Cougars battled back and were able to tie the game at one just two minute later when Mako Makoanyane was able to head in a ball from Juan Pablo Agredo for his third goal of the season. Columbia College did their best to add a second goal before the half but were unable to capitalize as the score remained tied at one heading into the halftime break.
The Cougars came out in the second half and were able to take their first lead of the game just four minutes into the period. Joey Koetting had the goal for Columbia as he was able to head in his fourth goal in three games on a cross from Juan Pablo Agredo to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead in the contest. Columbia College was back at it again with 17 minutes left in the game when Caden Castello found Parker Moon in the box who was able to beat the Pirates keeper for his sixth tally of the season to give the Cougars a 3-1 lead in the match. Columbia was able to add one more goal in the game with just under 10 minutes left to play in the half when Adam Du Toit was able to finish off his fourth goal of the season to make the score 4-1. The Cougars were able to close out the Pirates down the stretch to stay undefeated in conference play.
Ryan Harrisskitt (7-1-1) was in goal tonight for Columbia, making six saves in the contest.
The men's soccer team is back in action on Saturday, October 20th when they play host to the Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University Hornets in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 2:30 p.m. on R. Marvin Owen's Field.
