Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team was back in action as they faced off against the Johnson and Wales (Colo.) Wildcats. The Cougars defeated the Wildcats by a final score of 18-2. Columbia improves to 2-0 on the season.
The Cougars got right to business as Sam Crum scored just minutes into the game. Columbia controlled the first half as they jumped to an 11-0 lead at halftime behind five first half goals from Crum. Along with Crum, Carson Morrissey had three goals, while Cooper Heck, Henry Stauffer, and Jeremiah Lerch all chipped in one goal apiece.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats knocked in two goals to get on the board as they trailed 11-2. That is as close as the Wildcats would get as the Cougars remained in control adding one goal in the third and topping off the game with six goals in the final quarter to win 18-2.
Sam Crum had five goals and two assists, while Cooper Heck also had five goals with four assists. Carson Morrissey (3), Jeremiah Lerch (2), Henry Stauffer (2) all had multiple goals this afternoon.
Columbia College is back on the field Tuesday, March 13th when they take on Indiana Tech. The game is set to face off at 1:00 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
