Box Score 2 St. Louis, Mo. – Today the second ranked Columbia College softball team was back on the field when they traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to take on the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics in an AMC doubleheader. The Cougars defeated the Eutectics 16-1 in the first game and then 19-1 in the second game. Columbia improves to 8-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
In the Cougars first game they jumped to an early 9-1 lead after two innings. Columbia added four more runs in the third and three more in the fifth to win 16-1. Offensively, Rachel Sullivan was 2-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, Dakota Newton was 1-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, Alexandra Linck went 1-3 with one run scored and three RBI's, Allyson Metz was 2-3 with three runs scored and one RBI, Natalie Dummitt went 2-3 with one run scored and three RBI's, and Olivia Denslow was 3-4 with two runs scored and four RBI's. Molly Carter was the winning pitcher as she struck out one batter and allowed only three hits and one earned run in two innings of work. Reagen Radke also took the mound striking out four batters and giving up zero hits in two innings.
The Cougars momentum carried right over to the second game as they would score each inning. Columbia started out with a quick 3-0 lead after one, then added three runs in the second, five in the third and again in the fourth, followed by three more in the fifth to win 19-1. Dakota Newton went 4-5 with four runs scored and two RBI's, Molly Carter was 4-5 with three runs scored and five RBI's, Olivia Denslow went 2-4 with three runs scored and two RBI's, and Julianna Waldner was 2-4 with one run scored and two RBI's. Reagen Radke was the winning pitcher, striking out five batters and allowing just two hits in three innings of play. Lexi Dickerson relieved Radke as she struck out one batter and gave up only one hit in her two innings on the mound.
The Cougars are back in action Monday, March 12th when they take on the Stephens College (Mo.) Stars in an AMC doubleheader. The first game of the doubleheader is set to start at 2 p.m. with the second game to follow.
