Montreat, N.C. – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team was back in action as they traveled to Montreat, North Carolina to face off against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots. The Cougars fell to the Patriots by a final score of 9-7. Columbia moves to 2-3 on the season.
The Patriots were able to take the early lead as they led 5-1 after the first quarter. In the second the Cougars were able to score twice, however the Patriots also knocked in two goals to hold a 7-3 lead at the break.
In the third quarter Columbia held the Patriots to one goal as they were able to score two more to cut into the lead as they trailed 8-5 after three quarters. In the final quarter the Cougars again found the net two times, holding the Patriots to just one goal, but it would not be enough to overcome the Patriots as Columbia fell by a final score of 9-7.
Jeremiah Lerch, Cooper Heck, and Sam Crum each recorded two goals each, while J.T. Huez added one goal. In addition, Carson Morrissey and Henry Stauffer each had one assist. Evan Richardson was in goal for the Cougars as he tallied 14 saves this afternoon.
Columbia College is back on the field Monday, March 26th in Montreat, North Carolina to take on Montreat College. The game is set to face off at 5:00 p.m.
