Davenport, Iowa – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team was back in action when they traveled to Davenport, Iowa, to take on the Central Christian College (Kan.) Tigers in a nonconference matchup. The Cougars had a great showing today as they defeated the Tigers by a final score of 23-0 to improve to 6-8 on the season.
Columbia College came out in this one and took it to the Tigers from the start. They scored nine goals in the first period and four goals in the second period to take a 13-0 lead into the locker room. They came out in the second half and continued to push the tempo as they scored eight more times in the third quarter and two goals in the fourth quarter to solidify their sixth win of the season. This marks the first shutout in Cougar lacrosse history and the highest scoring total of the season.
Caden Walters led the way for Columbia as he finished with five goals in the contest. In addition to Walters, Carson Morrissey and Jeremiah Lerch both finished with four goals, Cooper Heck and Kellen Brechbill both finished with three goals, Henry Stauffer finished with two goals, and Sam Crum and Alexander Cuttler both finished with one goal to round out the scorers for Columbia. Riley McDermott was in goal for the Cougars as he recorded his first career shutout.
The lacrosse team is back in action tomorrow, April 22nd when they take on St. Ambrose (Iowa) University in Davenport, Iowa. This KCAC matchup is the last game of the regular season and is set to start at noon.
