Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Hannibal, Mo. – This afternoon the Columbia College softball team was back in action when they traveled to Hannibal, Missouri, to take on the Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University Trojans in an AMC doubleheader. The Cougars were able to sweep the Trojans in their final games of the regular season to improve to 25-14 on the year and 18-6 in conference play.

In the first game against the Trojans, Columbia College put together 13 hits in a 7-2 victory. They got off to a great start in this one as Rachel Sullivan singled to start the game and later came around to score on a two-run homerun from Molly Carter to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead. Columbia College added a third run in the top of the fourth to extend their lead to 3-0 but a two run rally in the bottom of the fifth from the Trojans cut the Cougars lead to 3-2 heading into the sixth. However, that was as close as Hannibal-Lagrange would get as Columbia College rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth and then closed out the Trojans down the stretch to capture their 24th win of the season.

Molly Carter (5-3) was in the circle for this one as she allowed four hits and two earned runs while striking out four in her sixth complete game of the season. Carter also led the way at the plate as she went 2-3 with two runs scored and four RBI's. To go along with Carter, Karli Leeper went 1-2 with two RBI's and Allyson Metz went 4-4 with an RBI and a run scored to round out the top performers for Columbia.

The Cougars were able to carry over their momentum from the first game into the second game and put together 11 hits in an 8-0 win. They got off to another great start in this one as they rallied for five runs in the top of the second to take an early 5-0 lead. They continued to put the ball in play as the game progressed and were able to add three more runs in the top of the fourth to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Kaitlyn Nottelmann (7-8) was the starter in this one as she allowed just two hits while striking out five batters in her second complete game shutout of the season. Offensively, Allyson Metz went 1-3 with two RBI's, Rachel Sullivan went 1-3 with an RBI, Dakota Newton went 1-1 with an RBI, Molly Carter went 2-2 with an RBI, Alexandra Linck went 1-3 with an RBI, Natalie Dummitt went 2-3 with an RBI, and Julianna Waldner went 1-3 with an RBI to lead Columbia at the plate.
