Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the Columbia College softball team was back in action as they continued play in the 2018 AMC Conference Tournament. The Cougars beat the Missouri Baptist University Spartans by a final score of 5-0 to advance to the final round of pool play. The Cougars improve to 27-14 on the year.

The Cougars bats were ready to go as they took the 2-0 lead after two innings. The third inning would be scoreless on each side. In the top of the fourth, Columbia was able to grab another run to lead 3-0. As the game progressed the Cougars continued to keep the Spartans off the scoreboard. Columbia batted in two more runs in the top of the sixth to extend their lead 5-0. The Spartans tried to battle back, but Columbia continued to take care of business as they notched a 5-0 victory to advance.

Lexi Dickerson was on the mound today as she threw a no hitter and struck out six batters. Offensively, Rachel Sullivan went 1-4 with one run scored and one RBI, Molly Carter went 2-4 with one RBI, Allyson Metz was 1-4, and Julianna Waldner went 1-3 with two RBI's.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow, May 3^rd when they take on the winner of the Missouri Baptist University Spartans vs. the Lyon College Scots matchup in the final round of pool play of the 2018 AMC Conference Tournament at the Antimi Softball Complex. The game is set to start at 11:00 a.m.
