Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the first regular-season NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll of the 2018 season. The Cougars, who ranked seventh in the preseason poll, fell 13 spots to 20th after falling to the Bellevue (Neb.) University Bruins by a final score of 3-2 and the second ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings 2-1 to start the season.
The Cougars rank 40th in the NAIA in goals allowed per game (2.500) and 43rd in saves per game (5.500) while goalie Ryan Harrisskitt ranks 43rd in saves per game (5.000). In addition, Mako Makoanyane leads the team in assists per game (0.500), Lesia Thetsane leads the team in shots per game (2.000), and Adam Du Toit leads the team in shots on goal per game (1.00).
The men's soccer team is back in action on Friday, September 7th when they travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take on the top ranked, and defending NAIA National Champion, Wayland Baptist (Texas) University Pioneers in a rematch of last year's NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Quarterfinals match. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
