Henderson, Tenn. – The 9
th ranked Columbia College volleyball team was back on the court tonight as they traveled to Henderson, Tennessee to play against AMC foe Freed-Hardeman University. The Cougars defeated the Lions, 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-14) and are now 17-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
The Cougars went straight to work in the first set as they kept the Lions below 10 kills and the Cougars racked up 13 kills for a 0.417 hitting percentage. Columbia kept their momentum alive as they added another 13 kills and two more aces to win set two. The Cougars dominated the final set with a 0.652 hitting percentage and held themselves at just one error for the sweep.
The Cougars were led by
Sidney Branson who finished with 13 kills and
Jaqueline Silva who had 10 kills. In addition,
Luisa Ferreira dished out 37 assists, and
Kiersten Anderson picked up eight digs.
Columbia returns to the court on Saturday, October 12 when they travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to compete against the Williams Baptist University Eagles in an AMC matchup. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
