Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Cougars Take Down Spartans 4-0

St. Peters, Mo. – The Columbia College women's soccer team traveled to St. Peters, Missouri to take on the Missouri Baptist University Spartans in an AMC matchup held at a neutral site. The Cougars defeated the Spartans 4-0. Columbia improves to 7-3 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.

The Cougars were ready to play as they took the field and found the net early off the head of Kelsey Mirts to take the 1-0 lead not even five minutes into the game. Columbia was able to convert again on the offensive end to go up 2-0 with around 25 minutes to go before the break. The score remained 2-0 at halftime. The Cougars outshot the Spartans 12-2 in the first. Columbia had seven shots on goal, while the Spartans only had two.

The Cougar defense continued to be solid, not allowing the Spartans to find the net. Columbia's offense was able to double their score in the second half with another header followed just seconds later by a goal from the foot of Molly Klein. The Cougars locked up the win 4-0 over the Spartans. Columbia held the Spartans to just six shots, only two on goal, in the game.

Kate Marshall recorded two saves this afternoon.

The women are set to host the Park University Pirates on Homecoming Day, Saturday, October 5th. The match will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
