Columbia, Mo. – The 2
nd ranked Columbia College men's soccer team competed against the Park (Mo.) University Pirates in an AMC matchup today. The Cougars topped the Pirates 1-0, remaining undefeated on the season at 11-0 and 5-0 in conference play.
After a scoreless half from both teams, the Cougars posted four shots, one on goal and one corner kick, while Park had just two shots.
The Cougars secured control of the ball early in the second half. Just seconds in, a toe poke from Columbia's
Lesia Thetsane off a pass from
Nick Brandt gave them the lead. Park's best chance came at the 61
st minute mark as a yellow card was dished out to Columbia causing a penalty kick by Rafael Pinheiro. With a chance to tie the game, Columbia's
Ryan Harrisskitt made the clutch save, giving the Cougars the 1-0 win.
Harrisskitt was in goal for Columbia and recorded one save.
The team will play next on Saturday, October 12
th when they travel to Conway, Arkansas to take on the Central Baptist University Mustangs in an AMC contest. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m.
