Columbia, Mo. – The seventh ranked Columbia College volleyball team was back on the court as they took on the Lyon (Ark.) College Scots at Stephens College in an AMC matchup. The Cougars defeated the Scots 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 26-24) to move to 25-3 on the season and 9-1 in conference play.
The Cougars began the first two sets strong, accumulating 25 kills for a hitting percentage of 0.464 in the first set and a 0.381 hitting percentage in set two. The final set proved to be the most challenging for Columbia when Lyon had the lead the majority of the set which forced Coach
Allison Jones-Olson to call a timeout. The pressure was on for the Cougars as
Jaqueline Silva stepped behind the service line when the Scots only needed one more point to push for a fourth set, but Columbia did not let up as they went on a 6-0 run to solidify the win.
Adianez Rivera led the way with 10 kills. In addition,
Luisa Ferreira had 25 assists, and both
Ellie Rockers and Ferreira had eight digs apiece.
The Cougars will be back on the court on Saturday, November 2 when they host the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs in another AMC matchup. First serve is set for 11 a.m. Prior to the match, senior
Kiersten Anderson will be honored.
