Columbia, Mo. – The seventh ranked Columbia College volleyball team was back on the court as they hosted Central Baptist (Ark.) College in an AMC matchup. The Cougars defeated the Mustangs 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-13) to move to 26-3 on the season and 10-1 in conference play.
The Cougars kept it close in the first set with the Mustangs staying only five behind until the very end when
Ellie Rockers and
Kiersten Anderson had back-to-back service aces to close the first set. Columbia came out on fire in the second set as they tallied 12 kills for a 0.409 hitting percentage while keeping Central Baptist under ten. The Cougars kept their momentum in the final set coming up with 16 kills. Columbia had a great showing in the match with a cumulative 15 service aces and 43 kills compared to Central Baptist's two service aces and 17 kills.
Sidney Branson led the way with 11 kills while both Anderson and Rockers had 10 kills apiece. In addition,
Luisa Ferreira had 39 assists, and Anderson tallied 10 digs.
The Cougars will be back on the court on Tuesday, November 5 when they host the Park (Mo.) University Pirates in their final regular season AMC matchup with the first serve is set for 7 p.m.
