Parkville, Mo. – The ninth ranked Columbia College volleyball team traveled to Parkville, Missouri to compete in the American Midwest Conference Women's Volleyball Championship Semifinals where they played against the No. 2 seed and No. 1 ranked Missouri Baptist University Spartans. The Cougars fell to the Spartans 3-0 (26-28, 21-25, 18-25) to move to 27-5 on the season.
 
The Cougars went toe-to-toe with the Spartans as both teams came hungry and ready to compete. Throughout the first set there were 15 ties before the Spartans took the win. Although the Cougars had a better hitting percentage than the Spartans, Missouri Baptist tallied six more kills than Columbia during set one. Columbia trailed Missouri Baptist throughout the second set, as the Spartans proved to be more dominant at the net coming up with five more kills than the Cougars to claim the second set. In the third set, Columbia held the lead early on, but had a difficult time putting the ball down late which gave the Spartans a chance to pull away from Columbia to take the third set and the match.
 
The Cougars were led by Sidney Branson who had nine kills, while Luisa Ferreira dished out 34 assists and Jaqueline Silva picked up seven digs.
 
The Cougars will find out their postseason fate on Monday, November 18^th at 10 a.m. when the NAIA announces the final ranking and qualifiers for the National Championship. Watch the selection show live HERE.
