Columbia, Mo. – The second ranked Columbia College men's soccer team hosted the Williams Baptist University Eagles today for their final matchup of the regular season. The Cougars polished off a perfect regular season record with a 2-1 win. They finish the regular season 17-0 and 11-0 in conference, while their historic season will continue into postseason play.
Prior to the match, seniors

With the game underway, it was going to be a hard-fought battle on the Marv this afternoon. Throughout the first half neither team was able to find the net. Columbia had seven shots, two on goal, while holding the Eagles to just two shots the entire half. The game remained scoreless at the break.
In the second half, the goose eggs still stood for both sides as Columbia kept working to try to break down the Eagles. Under 30 minutes remaining in the game and the stalemate continued. With 25 minutes to go, senior Casey Barlett-Scott pushed down the left wing, got some space just before the end line and crossed it in front where
Aaron Noel struck to put the Cougars up 1-0. A few minutes later, Barlett-Scott crossed another ball, this time connecting with
Lesia Thetsane who grabbed the insurance goal with about 20 minutes to play. With just under three minutes to play Matheus Bergami put the Eagles lone shot on goal in the back of the net and kept the Cougars on their toes while the clocked ticked down. Columbia was able to fend off the late push by Williams Baptist to take the win.
Ryan Harrisskitt was in goal this afternoon, seeing all 90 minutes of action.
The Cougars, AMC regular season champions, will host the conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, November 9
th at 3 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
