Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the 9
th ranked Columbia College women's basketball team competed against the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets in their first American Midwest Conference matchup of the season. The Cougars defeated the Hornets 79-41, improving to 5-0 on the season.
The Cougars came out cold, allowing the Hornets to take an 8-4 lead midway through the first quarter, but Columbia found their stride ending the quarter on a 15-2 run. The Cougars continued their run in the second quarter outscoring Harris-Stowe 23-7, heading into the locker room with a halftime score of 42-17.
The Cougars continued their momentum, leading by 32 going into the fourth quarter. Columbia continued to push their lead, keeping a distance of 35 points and above for the completion of the fourth quarter to seal the win.
