Jackson, Tenn, - Today the 9^th ranked Columbia College women's basketball team competed against No. 10 Vanguard (Calif.) University in the 2019 Jackson Rotary Invitational. The Cougars were defeated by the Lions 94-59, moving their record to 6-1 overall.

The Cougars came out cold and trailed to the Lions 14-2 early before ending the first quarter on an 11-4 run. Vanguard controlled the second quarter and led 50-23 going into the half.

Columbia came out and outscored the Lions in the third quarter 23-21 but Vanguard extended their lead again in the fourth quarter to shut down the Cougars and hand them their first loss of the season.

The Lions held the Cougars to just 10 points in the second quarter while scoring 32 of their own.
