Jackson, Tenn. - Tonight the 9
th ranked Columbia College women's basketball team continued play in the 2019 Jackson Rotary Invitational where they competed against No. 16 Bethel (Tenn.) University. The Cougars were defeated by the Wildcats 63-53, moving their record to 6-2 on the season.
The Cougars kept it close with the Wildcats in the first quarter, but in the last four minutes Columbia began to build a small four-point gap for themselves. In the second quarter, both teams stepped up their defense allowing only 17 points combined with Bethel taking 10 to cut Columbia's lead to one at the half.
The Wildcats came back from the locker room strong, scoring 16 points while holding the Cougars at just four until the final three minutes when Columbia knocked in eight points. In the final quarter Columbia fought to get back in the game, but could only cut Bethel's lead before the Wildcats walked away with the victory.
