St. Louis, Mo. – Tonight the 9
th ranked Columbia College women's basketball team took on the Missouri Baptist (Mo.) University Spartans in an AMC match up. The Cougars defeated the Spartans by a final score 72-57, improving their season to 7-2 and moving to 3-0 in conference play.
The Spartans took an early lead with an 11-2 run, but the Cougars battled back to tie the game at 15. Columbia continued their momentum by scoring 20 points in the second quarter and went into the locker room with a halftime score of 35-24.
The Spartans came out in the third quarter to outscore the Cougars 25-16, but Columbia still held a two point advantage heading into the final 10 minutes. The Cougars stepped on the gas to thwart any push back from Missouri Baptist and claimed the 15-point victory.
