Columbia, Mo. – This Cougar eSports team secured a spot in the 2019 North Conference Playoffs this weekend. The team competed against the No. 10 ranked Vikings from Grand View University Saturday afternoon. The Vikings showed strong improvement in game 2, but the Cougars proving their dominance once again, take the best-of-three series 2-0.
 
In Game one, the Cougars took advantage of early priority in lanes and decide to go for a two-man invade on the enemy red camp. After a missed smite by the enemy jungler, the invade pays off big for the side of CC. Columbia able to steal away the red buff and pick up first blood of the game put them well in control of the game. Ian "MistyStumpey" Alexander continued to crush his opponent in the top lane on the champion Jayce, one of his signature picks. At ten minutes into the game, Alexander had a positive 33 CS (creep score) difference and a four kill advantage. Alexander also accounted for 45% of the team's overall damage by the end of the game. Game one ended 23-7 after 21:36 minutes of play.
 
The Vikings fired back in game two orchestrating their own five-man invade to start off the game. David "rovex" Sin-keo gets locked down in mid lane for the first casualty of the game. GVU continued to hold their own for the next ten minutes, finding kills around mid and bot lane. The Cougars forced to play around their only winning lane in top side end up securing the Rift Herald. Alexander finds a great teleport play bottom to turn the tide of the game. Game two finished 29-13 after 23:40 minutes of play.
