Cougar Baseball Downs Trojans 14-3 to Nab 10th Win of the Season

Columbia, Mo. – This evening the Columbia College men's baseball team was back on the diamond as they hosted the Hannibal-LaGrange University Trojans in an AMC matchup. Columbia downed the Trojans 14-3 ending the game in seven innings. The Cougars are now 10-8 on the season and 6-4 in conference play.

The Cougar bats were rolling tonight as they totaled 14 runs on 16 hits ending the game in seven innings with a score of 14-3 over the Trojans. Each team was scoreless after the first, but in the second Columbia took control racking up seven runs in the inning. The Trojans were able to get on the board with a sole run in the third, however the Cougars were cruising as they grabbed one in the third, two in the fourth, and four more in the fifth to lead 14-1 going into the sixth inning. The Trojans were able to grab one run in the sixth and seventh, but they could not get anything going as Columbia held them to just four hits and handled business in the field.

Reid Browning got the start as he allowed three hits, one earned run, and struck out four batters in his five innings of work. Josiah Imhoff relieved Browning and allowed only one hit, one earned run, and struck out one batter as he wrapped the game up in his two innings on the mound. Offensively, Nolan Rattai went 2-3 with two runs scored, Blade McKee was 2-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, Chase Urhahn was 3-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs, Kenny Piper went 2-4 with two RBIs, Ethan Howser went 2-4 with one run scored and one RBI, Dalton Bealmer was 2-4 with two runs scored, Justin Randle was 2-3 with one run scored and two RBIs, and Austin Schibler was 1-2 with three runs scored and one RBI.

The baseball team is back in action on Friday, March 15th when they host the Park University Pirates in game one of an AMC three game series. The game is set to start at 6 p.m.
