Columbia, Mo. – This evening the Columbia College men's lacrosse team hosted the Clarke University Pride in a KCAC conference matchup. The Cougars dominated by a score of 14-7. Columbia is now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
The Cougars got on the board quickly taking a 2-0 lead, but the Pride were able to cut the score to one early. However, Columbia took over the control of the game as they added three more goals in the first quarter leading 4-1.
In the second they remained in charge holding a 7-2 lead midway through the quarter. Clarke was taking advantage in transition adding to their score, but the Cougars were able to stay on top at the break 9-4. In the half Columbia had goals scored by Carson Morrisey (2), Tyler Parrott (2), JT Huez (2), Trevor Doren (2), and Cooper Heck (1).
The Cougars came out of the break scoring two goals in the first two minutes to keep things rolling. Columbia scored two more unanswered goals to lead by 10, 14-4, in the third. Late in the quarter the Pride were able to hit the back of the net making the score 14-5 going into the final quarter.
In the final 15 minutes the Pride continued to fight, knocking in some goals, but Columbia was able to keep their space and wrap up the night with a 14-7 victory. In the second half Parrott and Heck added two more goals each, while Sam Crum hit one as well.
Evan Richardson was in goal for the Cougars as he recorded six saves this evening.
The lacrosse team is back in action when they host St. Ambrose University in a KCAC matchup on Sunday, March 24th. The game is set to start at 1 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
