Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team hosted the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees in a KCAC conference matchup. The Cougars took care of business winning 11-2. Columbia is now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
The game was underway and it was showing to be a physical game throughout the first quarter. Trevor Doren, Tyler Parrott, and JT Huez each found the net to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead after one quarter of play. In the second quarter Sam Crum added a goal, while Parrott hit his second of the game as Columbia was up 5-0 at the half.
A few minutes into the third quarter St. Ambrose was finally able to get on the board as they trailed 5-1. However, back to back goals from Cooper Heck gave Columbia its biggest lead of the afternoon, 7-1, just over midway through the quarter. The Cougars run continued with Crum netting his second goal of the day. JT Huez was the fourth Cougar on the day to secure two goals as Columbia led 9-1 going into the last quarter. In the fourth Carson Morrisey put in two goals of his own to break into double digits making the score 11-1. The Fighting Bees grabbed one late goal, but there was no coming back for St. Ambrose as the Cougars locked up the win 11-2.
Ty Hosler was in goal for the Cougars as he recorded 14 saves this afternoon.
The lacrosse team is back in action when they host University of Dallas in a KCAC matchup on Sunday, March 31st. The game is set to start at 1 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
