Ottawa, Kan. – This evening the Columbia College men's lacrosse team traveled to Ottawa, Kansas to play against the Ottawa University Braves in a KCAC matchup. There were four lead changes in the game as the Cougars fell by a final score of 12-10. Columbia is now 7-3 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.
It was an even match between the Cougars and the Braves as they had tied the game at one by the end of the first quarter.
Sam Crum scored the first goal of the game, while Ottawa took a shot in the last eight seconds. Columbia took the lead in the second as
Tyler Parrott and
Trevor Doren scored back to back goals. The Braves were able to stay in the game as they scored a goal. The Cougars went into the locker room with the 3-2 lead.
The Braves started the third quarter strong as they scored two goals to take the lead.
Cooper Heck got one in the back of the net to tie the game at four, followed by another goal by Crum to give the Cougars the lead. Ottawa responded with two goals, while Parrot scored another goal. The Braves added four more goals to end the third quarter 10-6. Columbia came back fighting in the final quarter as
JT Huez added two more goals, and both Doren and Crum scored one apiece. Ottawa kept pushing as well as they scored two goals of their own to hand the Cougars the loss.
Ty Hosler was in goal this afternoon as he recorded ten saves in the match.
The lacrosse team is back in action Saturday, April 13
th for senior day as they host the Benedictine College Ravens in a KCAC matchup. The game is set to face off at 1 p.m.
