Cougar Lacrosse Drops 13-9 to Ravens

Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team took the field today as they hosted their final home game of the season against the Benedictine College Ravens in a KCAC matchup. Today's game also served as Senior Day for Columbia. The Cougars fell by a final score of 13-9. Columbia is now 7-4 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.  

Prior to the match, seniors Nick Kaiser and Sam Crum were recognized for their hard work and dedication on and off the field.

The Cougars wasted no time breaking the scoreboard as Tyler Parrott found the net just over two minutes in, however just minutes later the Ravens answered back, knotting the game at 1. The Ravens were able to take the lead 2-1 after quarter one. In the second quarter the Ravens quickly made the score 3-1, but Cooper Heck answered making it a one goal game again, 3-2. Again the Ravens added a goal, and the Cougars responded to keep themselves at a one goal deficit. As the quarter progressed the Ravens two back their two goal lead, 5-3. The Ravens went on a run as they led 8-3 at halftime.

After the break the Ravens continued their run leading 10-3. Finally the Cougars were able to find the net as they grabbed two goals, making the score 10-5, and stopping the Raven run. A mad scramble in front of the net resulted in another Cougar goal as they continued to chip away at the lead 10-6. Columbia netted another one to make it four unanswered goals. The Cougars headed into the final quarter trailing by just three, 10-7. In the fourth quarter the game was very physical. Columbia kept battling, but was unable to overcome the Ravens as they fell 13-9

Goals were scored by: Cooper Heck (1), Trevor Doren (4), JT Huez (3), and Tyler Parrott (1).

Ty Hosler and Evan Richardson split time in goal as they combined to record 14 saves in the match.

The lacrosse team is on the road next to play Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 16th. The game will be played in St. Louis, Missouri at Missouri Baptist University. The match is set to face off at noon.
