Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College softball team hosted the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics today in their final home AMC doubleheader. The Cougars dominated taking game one 11-0 and game two 8-1. Columbia is now 27-9 on the season and 18-2 in conference play.
In game one the Cougars took the early lead 3-0 after the first. In the second they added six more runs, including a triple from Libby Marko that cleared the bases. Going into the third Columbia was up 9-0. The Eutectics could not get much going as the game progressed. The Cougars added two more runs in the fourth and grabbed the final three outs in the top of the fifth to end game one victorious 11-0.
Lexi Dickerson was on the mound as she allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters in the five innings. Offensively, Olivia Denslow went 1-2 with three runs scored, Libby Marko was 1-1 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Molly Carter went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Mackenzie Kasarda was 1-1 with one run scored and one RBI, Reagen Radke was 1-1 with one RBI, Allison Keen was 1-3, Samantha Myers, Avgustina Arbova, and Karolina Arbova each added a run, while Natalie Dummitt and Carli Buschjost each tallied an RBI.
In game two the Cougars again got on the board right away with one in the first and two in the second. They added another run in the fourth, and after being held scoreless all day the Eutectics got a run home in the top of the sixth, making the score 4-1, Cougars. However, in the bottom of the inning, Columbia answered with a grand slam off the bat of freshman Karolina Arbova to extend their lead 8-1 going into the final inning. The Cougars quickly got the final three outs to take game two 8-1.
Kaitlyn Nottelmann was on the mound as she allowed just three hits, one earned run, and struck out nine batters in seven innings. Offensively, Mackenzie Kasarda was 1-2, Natalie Dummitt was 2-3 with two runs scored, Jacey Meyer was 1-2 with one run scored, Allison Keen was 1-3, and Karolina Arbova went 2-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Olivia Denslow and Samantha Myers each added a run, while Avgustina Arbova added a run and one RBI.
The Cougars are back in action on Friday, April 19th when they travel to Conway, Arkansas to take on the Central Baptist College Mustangs in an AMC doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
