Leavenworth, Ks. – This evening the Columbia College men's lacrosse team traveled to Leavenworth, Kansas to go up against the University of Saint Mary Spires. It was a close game between the teams, but the Cougars took care of business, winning 10-8. Columbia is now 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
The Spires were first to get on the board as they scored two goals.
JT Huez scored late in the first with the help of
Hunter Wadman to get the Cougars back in the game. Saint Mary added another goal before the end of the first to extend their lead 3-1.
Sam Crum scored in the second quarter, but the Spires responded with their own goal to keep their lead, 4-2.
After halftime, both teams came back from the locker room eager to play as there was a combined 12 goals made.
Cooper Heck got the Cougars started in the third quarter as he scored two, while
Trevor Doren and Crum added a goal apiece. The Spires had three goals in the same quarter, which kept them in the lead, 7-6. Columbia dominated the fourth as they outscored the Spires 4-1 to win the game 10-8.
Tyler Parrott scored two goals, Huez added another goal, and
Henry Stauffer scored as well.
Ty Hosler was the goalie and recorded 10 saves for the Cougars.
The lacrosse team is back in action when they travel to Belleville, Illinois to play against the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx on Friday, April 5
th. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
