Box Score 2 Fulton, Mo. – The Columbia College softball team traveled to Fulton, Missouri today to take on the William Woods University Owls in an AMC doubleheader. The Cougars swept the Owls 12-0 and 6-1. Columbia is now 23-9 on the season and 14-2 in conference play.
In game one, the Cougars got rolling quickly putting up one run in the first and four more in the second to hold a 5-0 lead. The third was scoreless for each side, but the Cougars were not done yet as they scored two runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth, extending the lead 12-0. They got the final outs to end the game in five innings. Columbia had 12 runs on 16 hits, one of those hits being a homer off the bat of Avgustina Arbova.
Lexi Dickerson was on the mound as she allowed just two hits and struck out six batters. Offensively, Olivia Denslow was 2-3 with three runs scored, Libby Marko was 1-2 with one run scored and one RBI, Molly Carter was 4-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs, Mackenzie Kasarda was 3-4 with one run scored and one RBI, Natalie Dummitt was 2-3 with one run scored and two RBIs, Jacey Meyer was 1-4 with two RBIs, Avgustina Arbova was 2-2 with two runs scored and one RBI, and Karolina Arbova was 1-3 with one run scored.
In game two the Cougars again scored first and then scored another one in the third to lead 2-0 going into the fourth. The Owls were able to score their first run of the day in the fifth inning to cut the lead in half 2-1. However, in the top of the sixth Avgustina Arbova knocked a grand slam to push the Cougars lead to 6-1. In the remainder of the game the Cougars were able to keep the Owls from crossing the plate to secure the sweep 6-1. Columbia scored six run on seven hits.
Molly Carter was on the mound for all seven innings as she allowed six hits, zero earned runs, and struck out one batter. Offensively, Olivia Denslow and Molly Carter were each 1-4 with one run scored, Natalie Dummitt was 1-3 with one run scored, Jacey Meyer was 1-2 with one run scored, and Avgustina Arbova was 1-3 with one run scored and four RBIs.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday, April 13th when they host the Hannibal-LaGrange University Trojans in an AMC doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
