Belleville, Ill. – The 12^th ranked Cougar volleyball team was back in action tonight when they traveled to Belleville, Illinois to compete against Lindenwood University-Belleville to open up American Midwest Conference play. The Cougars swept the Lynx 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-12) and move to 11-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.


The Cougars were dominant throughout the entire match starting with the first set as they went on a 19-4 run to keep the Lynx under 10 points. In set two, Columbia kept their momentum going as they finished with a blistering 0.526 hitting percentage. The Cougars finished the final set strong with 16 kills for a final hitting percentage of 0.467.
 
Columbia was led by Sidney Branson who tallied eight kills and 12 digs, Luisa Ferreira who had 26 assists, and Jaqueline Silva who finished with eight blocks and three service aces.
 
Columbia returns to the court on Thursday, September 19 when they travel to Hannibal, Missouri to play against the Hannibal-LaGrange University Trojans in a conference matchup. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
