Hannibal, Mo. – The 12
th ranked Cougar volleyball team was back in action tonight when they traveled to Hannibal, Missouri to compete against Hannibal-LaGrange University in a conference matchup. The Cougars swept the Trojans, 3-0 (25-17, 25-6, 25-16) and move to 12-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
Columbia had a great day at the net as the Cougar offense dispersed the ball among all hitters to keep the Trojans on their toes. In set two, Columbia was dominant the entire time as they racked up a total of 18 kills for a 0.432 hitting percentage which was no match for the Trojans two kills. Columbia continued to take care of business in the final set by adding another 18 kills and stopping Hannibal at just five kills to claim the victory.
Columbia was led by
Kiersten Anderson who tallied 16 kills, nine digs, and three blocks. In addition,
Sidney Branson added 12 kills,
Luisa Ferreira dished out 45 assists and 13 digs, and
Shelby Meyer picked up 14 digs.
Columbia returns to the court on Wednesday, September 25 when they host St. Louis College of Pharmacy in a conference matchup. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. in the Arena of Southwell Complex.
