Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men's soccer team was back in action tonight when they hosted Lyon (Ark.) College in their first American Midwest Conference game of 2019. The 6
th ranked Cougars defeated the Scots by a final score of 2-1 and are now 7-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
The Cougars had a rough start trying to get the ball rolling when the Scots came out of nowhere and tipped the ball right passed Cougar goalkeeper
Ryan Harrisskitt for the lone goal of the first half at the 24 minute mark. In the second half, the Scots received a foul inside the box at the 80 minute mark which gave Columbia the opportunity to tie the game with a PK.
Casey Bartlett-Scott did not disappoint as the Cougars forced the game into double overtime after the penalty kick goal. At the 101
st minute mark,
Ximo Gill took the corner kick that hit the far post which deflected inside the goal for the Cougar victory.
Harrisskitt got the win in goal for Columbia, posting two saves on the night.
The men's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, September 25
th when they travel to Fulton, Missouri to take on the William Woods University Owls in another conference matchup. The game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
