Cougars Fall Short in Season Opener

Columbia, Mo- The Columbia College men's lacrosse team took on the Rockhurst (Mo.) University Hawks in their season opener this afternoon. The Cougars were defeated by the Hawks by a final score of 8-2 and are 0-1 on the season.

The Scoring
Q1- (RU) At 11:26 Brooks Hanson shot the first goal of the game from the pass of Alec Heflin (CC-0, RU-1).
Q1 - (CC) The Cougars retaliated three minutes later with their first goal by Trevor Doren. (CC-1, RU-1).
Q1 - (RU)  A penalty by Sean King gave the Hawks the advantage and with 12 seconds left Rockhurst was able to get the man up goal by Kai Trujillo. Trujillo got his second goal of the game at the 11:22 minute mark. The Hawks continued to press the Cougars, Brooks Hanson passed of the ball to Jake Fisher, who found the back of the net (7:00). Q2 - (CC) Doren took off towards the net, to find Tyler Parrott for the second Columbia goal. (CC-2, RU- 4)
Q3 - (RU) Blake Bellinger found the back of the net for back to back Hawk goals. (CC-2, RU- 6)
Q4- (RU)- The Hawks created a larger lead for themselves with goals by Regan Devine and Jake Fisher. (CC-2, RU- 8)

Evan Richardson was in goal for the Cougars and made 19 saves on the game.
