Cougars Redeem Themselves After Dropping Game One

The Scoring Game 1
T6 (CSC) – A sac fly got the first run of the game on the board in favor of the Wildcats. (CC-0, CSC-1)
B7 (CC) – Despite Columbia hitting into a double play, Dalton Bealmer made his way to home plate to tie and send the game into extra innings. (CC-1, CSC-1)
T8 (CSC) – A double rounded a Wildcat home. (CC-1, CSC-2)
B8 (CC) – Columbia tallied two hits to score a run and tie the game once again. (CC-2, CSC-2)
T9 (CSC) – Three hits from Culver-Stockton tallied three runs to take the win. (CC-2, CSC-5)

The Scoring Game 2
T1 (CC) – Four hits including a double to deep right-center from Connor Gage gave Columbia the three-run advantage. (CC-3, UJ-0)
T4 (CC) – Justin Randle got the Cougars rolling by scoring the first run of the inning followed by Bradley Prebay's double to right field that scored three Cougars with no outs. A sac fly followed by a hit to right field brought two more Cougars home. (CC-9, UJ-0)
T5 (CC) – Back-to-back hits tacked on another run for Columbia. (CC-10, UJ-0)
T7 (CC) – A wild pitch from the Jimmies sent a Cougar running to home plate. (CC-11, UJ-0)
 
Turning Point Game 1
Three hits and a Cougar error in the top of the 9th scored three Wildcats while two groundouts and a fly out sent the Cougars away with the loss.
 
Turning Point Game 2
Columbia had a strong start to the game with four hits to score three runs that allowed them to cruise through the game to victory.
 
Individual Leaders Game 1
Reid Browning was on the mound for Columbia and struck out seven batters and only allowed one run in 5.1 innings of play. Prebay and Connor Gage had two hits apiece while Bealmer had the only RBI and Hayden Ludwig scored a run.
 
Individual Leaders Game 2
Chris Wall was the starting pitcher and only allowed one hit in 6.0 innings of play while striking out 13 batters. Prebay led the way offensively with three hits in four at bats with a run scored and 3 RBI. Bealmer and Gage had two hits apiece and two RBI each as well to round out the top performers.
 
Up Next
The Cougars will continue play in Joplin, Missouri tomorrow, February 22 as they take on Culver-Stockton (Mo.) College at 3 p.m. and then play against Graceland (Iowa) University following the conclusion of the first game at Joplin High School.
