Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia men's lacrosse team set foot on The Marv this afternoon as they hosted the Midland University Warriors in a KCAC matchup. The Cougars dominated the Warriors by a final score of 19-4. The Cougars are now 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
The Scoring
Q1-(MU) Within the first two minutes of the game the Warriors found the net (CC-0, MU-1), however the Cougars trailed for less than 30 seconds as Ethan Kirchberg assisted JT Huez (CC-1, MU-1)
Q1- (CC) 40 seconds later Kirchberg assisted Cooper Heck to take the lead (CC-2, MU-1), Tyler Parrott assisted Huez in his second goal (10:22) (CC-3, MU-1)
Q1 – (CC) Cooper Heck found Trevor Doren (CC-4, MU-1), Doren assisted John Thomas to add another to the column (CC-5, MU-1) (8:32). Through traffic Carson Morrissey netted goal six for the Cougars. Parrott assisted Huez in a first quarter hat trick (CC-7, MU-1). Parrott grabbed his first goal of the game aided by Heck, followed by Kirchberg tallying one more for the quarter (CC-9, MU-1)
Q2 – (CC) Silence from both teams until Huez bumped the score to double digits (CC-10, MU-1) (5:20). Within 15 seconds of each other Morrissey and Huez each added goals (CC-12, MU-1). Huez set a new career high when he hit his fifth goal.
Q3 – (CC) Doren captured his own hat trick as his goals sandwiched the Warriors lone goal of the quarter (CC-13, MU-2). Huez was having a record setting day as he netted his sixth goal and set a Columbia College record for single game goals. (CC-15, MU-2)
Q4 – (MU) Midland netted two goals early in the final quarter (CC-15, MU-4). Assisted by Doren, Kirchberg snagged his second of the game. A few more goals were knocked in as the Cougars wrapped the game up 19-5.
Evan Richardson, Ty Hosler, and Riley Mcdermont all shared time in goal combining for 11 saves.
Key Moments
The Cougars hot start in the first quarter created separation that the Warriors could not battle back from. Huez set a career high seven goals and new Columbia College record for single game goals.
