Cougars Finish Third to Open Season

Omaha, Neb. - The Cougar bowling team traveled to Omaha, Nebraska to compete in the Midland Warriors Open for their first tournament of the year.  The four different institutions competed with a total of nine teams.
 
William Penn University brought three teams, Midland University had four and Hastings College and Columbia each competed with one team.
 
The Cougars started off very well on Saturday with six regular games and a total of 5,160 pins for an average of 860 per game to put them in third behind William Penn and Midland varsity teams.  Katyn Fischer had an outstanding game of 277 and a total pin count of 1168 to take first place on the all-tournament team.  Her average for the six games was 194.

The second day of the tournament was Baker format where each team bowls four four-game matches and the totals will be added together to give them the top two team to roll off for the Championship.  Columbia College totaled 2,757 for the matches totaling 7,917 pins for the tournament. Columbia's score was good enough to put them in third out of the eight teams competing. 

The Cougars next tournament will be in Sioux City, Iowa on November 15 & 16 at the Bronco Open hosted by Hastings College.
