Olathe, Kan. – The Columbia College volleyball team earned a split today to start off the 2020-21 season. The Cougars played in a tri-match at MidAmerica Nazarene University, taking on the home team as well as Tabor College.
COLUMBIA COLLEGE (1-0) VS TABOR COLLEGE (2-1)
Set 1: Columbia 25 | Tabor 17
The Cougars held the edge the whole set, taking a six-point lead mid-way through and holding strong for the win.
Set 2: Columbia 25 | Tabor 21
Columbia allowed the Bluejays to get within striking distance late before capitalizing on back-to-back Tabor errors to close out the set.
Set 3: Columbia 25 | Tabor 21
The Bluejays held a seven-point lead before Columbia got their footing and closed out the match on a 7-1 run.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first set, trading point for point. The cards fell in favor of the Pioneers when in counted as they finished out the set with a kill.
Set 2: Columbia 25 | MidAmerica Nazarene 20
A great second set from the Cougars tied up the match. Columbia forced the Pioneers into nine hitting errors in the set while only committing five of their own.
Set 3: Columbia 21 | MidAmerica Nazarene 25
A pair of kills and a pair of aces gave MidAmerica an earlier advantage. The Cougars closed the gap to just one point but their attempt was thwarted by a strong Pioneer attack.
Set 4: Columbia 22 | MidAmerica Nazarene 25
Another late run, this time by the host squad, led to the loss for the Cougars after the Pioneers rattled off five unanswered points to give them the lead and eventually the win.
