Women's Basketball Extends Win-Streak to Five

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's basketball team earned their fifth-straight win of the season this afternoon against Harris-Stowe (Mo.), 69-49. The Cougars improve 7-2 on the season and 5-0 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
 
The Cougars came out of the gates ready to play going on a 6-0 run against the Hornets. Nearly three minutes into the game, Harris-Stowe put up their first points of the game to make the score, 6-2. The Hornets got within one with four minutes remaining in the quarter, 9-7, but that was the closest Harris-Stowe got for the remainder of the game.
 
Starting the second quarter, Columbia led 12-9. Harris-Stowe fought their way back within two points with 7:12 remaining in the quarter. A couple 5-0 runs later, the Cougars took a 13-point advantage, 30-17. Rolling into the half, Columbia led 32-20.
 
The Cougars continued their dominance into the third quarter putting 23 points up on the board, their highest scoring quarter of the game, 55-32. A three-pointer by Sofia Popp and a made free throw from Geena Stephens gave Columbia their largest lead of the game at 59-32. It was all Cougars to the finish, securing a 69-49 win.
