Columbia, Mo.- The Columbia Women's Basketball team was victorious this afternoon against the Stephens College Stars, 53-45. The Cougars are 7-4 on the season and 5-2 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
The Cougars started strong, with a 6-0 lead against the Stars. Stephens made their first point at the 5 minute mark (6-2). Columbia increased their lead by eight, leading 19-11 going into the second quarter.
The Stars worked their way up and closed the gap to two points halfway through the second quarter (22-20). The Cougars were able to increase their lead to 10, ending the first half with a score of 30-20.
The Stars started the second quarter with a 2-point field goal. The Cougars traded point for point. The Cougars ended the quarter on a 6-5 run over last two minutes of play, the third quarter ended with a score of 46-33.
The Cougars continued to press the Stars, pushing their lead to eight over Stephens. Columbia kept their lead with the game ending, 54-45.
