St. Louis, Mo. – In their first AMC contest of the season, the No. 22 ranked Columbia College women's basketball team earned their third win of the season against Missouri Baptist, 60-54. The Cougars improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the AMC.
Columbia led throughout the majority of the first quarter with the help of a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line performance. Columbia led 11-7 at the break.
The Cougars continued their control into the second quarter with a 10-0 run. They maintained their lead by as many as 16 with 4:49 left in the first half. Missouri Baptist produced 10-straight points taking their deficit down to six-points going into the half, 27-21.
The Spartans came out for a big third quarter scoring 23 points compared to the Cougars 14 points and took a 44-41 lead into the final frame.
The Cougars regained the lead with 8:14 on the clock and would keep their advantage nearly the rest of the way. Columbia held on to earn a 60-54 lead over the Spartans.
