Cougars Slide by Eutectics

Columbia, Mo. – The No. 22 Columbia College women's basketball team earned their second AMC win of the season in a nail biter versus the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, 63-59. The Cougars improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the AMC.
 
The Eutectics took the early lead, but a three-pointer made by Bria Jones would give the Cougars their first lead of the game, 5-4. Nearing the end of the first quarter, Columbia defended well as they held the Eutectics to a scoreless for the last 2:30. Columbia led 18-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The Cougars extended their run from the first period to 9-0, extending their lead out to 16 and taking a 33-19 advantage into the locker room.

The Eutectics would slowly make their way back into the game coming within six points midway through the third period. The Cougars held the advantage throughout the remainder of the quarter, leading 47-36.

The Eutectics were not done fighting as they produced a 23-point final period. They got the lead within one point four times throughout the final minutes of the contest. With 1:30 remaining in the game, the Eutectics were only down one, 58-57. Abigayle Feeney knocked down two free throws for the Cougars with three seconds left in the game that would seal the Columbia win, 63-59.
