St. Louis, Mo. - The No. 19-ranked Columbia College volleyball team fell on the road to (3) Missouri Baptist, 3-1. The Cougars are now 22-7 overall and 4-1 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play, while the Spartans improve to 19-2 and 5-0 in the AMC.
Columbia (22-7) vs. Missouri Baptist (19-2)
Set 1: Columbia 25 | Missouri Baptist 23
Missouri Baptist led 17-13, before CC went on a 4-0 run to tie the first set at 17-17. After splitting the next couple of points, Columbia called a timeout with the set tied at 22-22. CC responded by scoring three-of-the-next four points to take set one.Â
Set 2: Columbia 21| Missouri Baptist 25
The Spartans jumped out to a 16-12 lead, before Columbia battled back and closed the gap to two-points at 21-19. The Spartans never gave up the lead and earned the set two victory.Â
Set 3: Columbia 13 | Missouri Baptist 25
The Cougars tied the third set at two, when MBU went on a 13-0 run to take a commanding lead at 15-2. The Cougars would not rebound from the deficit and the Spartans took the third set.Â
Set 4: Columbia 22 | Missouri Baptist 25
The fourth set saw the Spartans race out to a 19-13 lead. The Cougars fought back to within one-point (22-21), but MBU scored three of the final four points to take the match.Â
