Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's basketball team earned a 68-62 win against Hannibal-LaGrange, sweeping the season series.
The first quarter was back-and-forth, as the two teams combined for three ties and four lead changes. Hannibal-LaGrange held the largest lead of the period at four-points. The Trojans led, 22-21 at the end of the first.
The second period was much of the same, as neither team held an advantage of more than two-points. The Trojans made a layup as time expired and lead 32-30 at the intermission.
After the Trojans took a 37-34 advantage in the third period, the Cougars went on a 7-0 run to take a 41-37 lead. Hannibal-LaGrange stayed with the Cougars and regained the lead at 44-43, but Columbia closed out the period scoring the final four-points and lead 47-44 going to the fourth.
In the fourth, Columbia increased their lead to 12-points 58-46 with 6:07 remaining, but Hannibal-LaGrange closed within four-points (66-62). Columbia scored the final two points on a pair of free throws by
Allison Stiers.
