Kansas City, Mo. – The Columbia College baseball team had their season opener today with a doubleheader against Ottawa (Kan.) and York (Neb.). The Cougars went 1-1 on the day with an 8-2 loss against Ottawa and a 15-9 win over York. Columbia is now 1-1 on the season.

Game 1

• Dalton Bealmer and Brad Prebay each had an RBI for the Cougars.
• In the second inning, Dalton Bealmer hit a solo homerun for Columbia's first run of the game.
• Jarrett Newell, Dalton Bealmer, and Justin Randle each produced one hit.
• After a Brad Prebay RBI, David Dell crossed home plate for the final Cougar run of the game in the fifth.
• Mark Haire pitched 2.0 innings for the Cougars striking out three, allowing eight hits.
• Pharon Pilgrim replaced Haire in the bottom of the third, striking out two and giving up one hit.
• To close, Logan Stewart came in for Columbia tossing 2.2 innings, striking out two, allowing four hits.

Game 2

• Kendrick Delima led the Cougars with eight of the Cougars 15 RBI's, along with one homerun, three hits, and two runs.
• Dalton Bealmer finished with two RBI's, three hits, and two runs for Columbia.
• Justin Randle produced two RBI's, two hits, and one run.
• Eight Cougars scored at least once.
• Tegan Woods gave the Columbia two runs, two hits, and one RBI.
• With 104 total pitches thrown, Chris Wall earned his first win of the season. He pitched 5.0 innings while striking out 10, allowing two earned runs.
• Andrew Baker, Luke Miller, and Tanner Beatty also made pitching appearances for the Cougars, each allowing two earned runs.
