Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men's basketball team defeated Missouri Baptist 93-70 this evening in the Arena of Southwell Complex. The Cougars move to 13-4 on the season and 7-2 in the American Midwest Conference.
The Cougars and the Spartans went back and forth for the first eight minutes of the half producing four ties throughout. After a bucket made by
Cole Gerken with 11 minutes remaining in the half, the Cougars would take control leading 18-16. Columbia went on a 6-0 run initiated by a three-pointer from
Jack Fritsche gaining a 32-25 advantage. The Cougars led by as many as 27 while shooting 61-percent from the field throughout the half. Columbia led 55-30 at halftime.
The Cougars continued to dominate out of the locker room while they recorded a 34-point advantage with 12:49 left on the clock. This was also their largest lead of the night at 77-43. The Spartans went on a 6-0 run of their own getting within 23 points at 82-59, but Columbia held on to secure a 93-70 victory over the Spartans.
